Great fine! Would you mine posting what you had to pick up at the local hardware store? I never use my short sissy bar and may convert it to your set up
I am going from memory. You will need the following.

2 1/4" X 1" coarse thread hardend bolts. Replaces the 3/4" long bolts in the front saddle bag supports reuse existing washers.

2 Turn buckles stainless steel. you want them to be 5" center to center of the eyelets with the eyelets screwed almost all the way in.

2 Nuts to fit on the right hand threaded side of each turn buckle to act as a locking nut

2 Chrome 3/8" X 1 1/2" allen button head bolts. varify this length, it must go through the eyelet, spool, washer and engage the cap nut.

2 Chrome washers for 3/8" bolts

2 Chrome 3/8" cap nuts

2 Detachable hardware spools from HD. I used leftover spools from an old two point docking hardware.

2 Rubber bushings 1/4" ID 3/8" OD approx 1/4" long. These will be used in the lower eyelet to take up slop between the 1/4" bolt and the eylet.

I think that is all

THANKS 2MANY,

I am pretty stoked to try this out, since I don't have a back rest with my C&C.
Others will be happy to see this too!

Good Work,

YB

Hey, this gets even better... I have a solo rack and I pulled the plastic pieces on the front of the rack that mount to the top of the shock. I did the same on the backrest and both will fit. In order for this to work so the both the rack and backrest won't move is get an extra set of those plastic pieces and thin them both down on both sides. When I get around to doing this I'll add some photos.

Your saddlebag insert are great! Where did you get them or how did you make them?

Turned out very nice. I was just telling my wife the other night I should turn the backrest around for when I am riding solo. Having trouble spending $300+ for the adjustable backrest. Just hadn't looked at it to much yet. Now I know it will work. Great job! I see a project for this week. Thanks for posting.
