I bought my flhtcu in late August. I have not used or installed the headsets. What style of helmet works best for this application. I'm thinking full face would be the best but need some advice on this one! Brands, styes, anything from you guys with more experience. Thanks in advance! mariner227
If you are talking the Harley intercom setup, we use the Jet style 3/4 helmet with the flip up face shield. Works great. Will be replacing them with new ones shortly.[8D]
I'm using a 3/4 open face without the shield and it seems to be working fine for me. I wear a full face when it's really cold, but I don't like the way the lower section limits my visibility to the cockpit area.
I changed to the J&M headsets( www.jmcorp.com )and what a difference in sound quality and intercom clairty. I use a 3/4 Arai and a Full face Shoei with my intercoms, according to the weather and how far I plan to go. I use a Shoei shorty for the summer with the HD hand microphone with my CB.
I use a nolan helmet. I cant think of the model right off the top of my head but it has a flip up face shield and all the latest features. They just cqame out this year. Nice helmets
OK, this is good! I forgot to mention that I have a large head. The full face helmet that I have now is kinda tight. I needed to do some research before I started drilling hole to install the stock Harley headsets. I will be using the cb so noise from the wind is going to be a factor I'm sure
I use a Shoei RJ-Air Platinum that I really like. It's an open face with air vents on top front and rear. I have a windshield height that allows me to look over the top while driving and the wind coming over it just barely hits the top of my head hitting the front air vent that really feels good on a hot day. These vents can be open or closed.
I have 5 helments and the best one hands down is a full face Nolan. It is not cheap either. Go to the J&M site and you can purchase it with speakers and mic installed.
