Default Quick release TP problem

Has anyone come up with a way of keeping the TP from shaking/vibration after some use? I've gone through 3 sets of hardware in the past two years ($40 a pop) to tighten it up not to mention the adjustments I've made to rotate the barrels on the bike to get to "fresh" spots that aren't worn down. If it weren't for the fact that I remove it a lot, I'd just hard mount it to avoid the rattling sounds I hear. Drives me nuts!!!

There is a guy here on the forum that makes Billet aluminum pieces that fix the rattle. Let me see if I can find the thread about them. Gilbos440rt is his username. Check out this thread

Besides cost this is one reason I stayed with rigid mount and take TP on/off 6 bolts when I choose. Security I feel is better too. I am not fond of looks of detachable hardware when TP is off. I bought some used RK strut covers I use with TP off.

Thanks JC! I'll try and get a hold of him. They look like they may be the answer since there's no parts to wear out. Looks similar to the hardware i had for the Switchblade shield on a prior bike. I use the TP (not toilet paper... LOL) about 50/50 so permanent mounting isn't an option. My wife rides a good bit with me and loves it, otherwise the only time I use it solo is on a multi day trip.

I use the HD mount covers when the tourpak is off. they come in black and chrome and just slip over the hardware, snapping into place by magnet. Not a bad look IMO.

It is very nice to have the removable/detach option...I just dont like my TP on unless we are traveling some distance...Each to his own!!! That being said do check out Gilbos (Bobbie) option...Very nice well made and Bobbie will stand behind his parts 100%.He is a stand-up guy.I have been using them for years and have found them to hold up very well!!
Just a reminder to ALWAYS use locktite on your bolts!!
I must of forgot locktite on a bolt!! :-(

I use some black tie wraps to make a more secure fit. It matches the black part of where the TP sits. One on the front and one in the back and only on one side. This solved the rattle for me and the black tie wraps blend in.
