I was at my local Stealer last night....The guy behind the parts counter says, "Hey, have you seen the winter specials we are running?" One of them was a chrome front end special. Included the kit plus seals, oil, and LABOR Regular price $959, and the SPECIAL price $819. What a ripoff!!! So if you want to compare it to that I guess $509 is a steal, but I like the sound of doing it myself for alot cheaper.
My local dealer wants about $750

I was quoted about $260 more than that (installed) at Stn Mtn HD---i say it's worth it. Chrome is the new crack.

Thats the damn truth and I am a flat out chrome ***** now

I have a couple of questions about replacing the fork lowers.
1. Is is just as easy the replace them on a bike with a cartridge in the left fork.
2. do I have to completely remove the fork assemblies for replacement.
3. do you need all of the special tool called for in the manual to replace and adjust the fork oil. (this part looks to be a real pain)
I have all of the parts to replace my stock lowers with chrome now but I'm a little apprehensive after reading through the manual and seeing the special tools required.

I was at Blue Springs HD 3 days ago. With the $100.00 labor discount, the Parts guy quoted me $988.00 to do the chrome front end, including rotor covers.

Now I'm starting to wonder if I can just remove the cartridge from the left fork and install springs from a 06 or 07 bike with out the cartridge. Anyone know for sure?
