Not being a brain surgeon or anything, but why in the 'ell would anyone put the jack on the right side when working on the right side of the bike unless they just want to add the aggravation of it being in the way. Just sayn...

Having someone assist you until you get comfortable doing it alone is a plus. The suggestion of rolling the bike up on boards to raise it and get additional clearance is worth the time.

I jack mine all the up and then let it down onto the locks,,that way you dont have to worry about the hydrolics leaking down on ya,,,

I'm wondering why a person would trust a mega thousands bike on a $~100 lift? Why not invest in one that is stable and be done with it. Not an area to save money IMO.
