My OL had the handlebar mounted BOOM,and now the windshield mounted BOOM system. The windshield version is hands down better. Even at 60-70 riding beside here I can hear it.
Here are a few pictures from a Road King I did. Front had 6 3/4" Focal speakers mounted in chrome buckets on the crash bar, IPOD touch mounted inside the tank console powered and charged, 4- 6x9" speakers in the hard bags and an Alpine PDX 150.4 amplifier. It sounded so sweet, crisp and clear going down the highway.
I think a sweet RK system would be the 6.5" on the crashbar like onthelo showed and a set of 6x9's in Cycle Sounds lids with a RF 4 channel mounted to the underside of the lid running off an iPod mounted to/in the tank dash. This will still give lots of bag space and keep everything fairly protected.
That is what I put on my RK, and it works awesome! I think it is much nicer than the boom setup as you have a radio built in. Only way I would change is if I went with a full fairing

Super nice work! this looks great. Am considering something along these lines, perhaps with factory lower fairing mounted speaks in the front.

I like what you did with the engine guard speakers in the light buckets. Where do you get your buckets from? Will the speakers hold up to a good downpour?
I bought the extreme cycle radio It's very loud and clear.Haven't had a chance to try it on the interstates yet but running around home at 65 mph it works great with volume to spare. it has a usb flash drive port, sdcard slot, and a 3.5 mm jack.I have the control box mounted in the left saddle bag because it's the only part thats not waterproof.
