Did mine when I changed the bars. Plan on removing the exhaust to get the trans cover off, other then that, just follow the manual. Its nothing but time.
Remove the exhaust and it's easy. It's tempting to just try and shift the exhaust, but that is actually harder.
The large snap ring that holds the guts together can be a pain in the butt. Get a decent set of snap ring pliers.
Get a new gasket for the cover, because it's not worth trying to reuse the old one and having it leak. It is more work to take apart and put together than actually change the cable.
Pull the cable off the lever, then pull the cover. Then feed the cable and cover all the way off the bike from the lower side. Reverse when you have the new cable set in place.
Just don't lose the ball bearings from the ramp. Take your time with the disassebly and assembly.

I've used needle nose pliers on that job when I had to replace a clutch cable on a friends bike and didn't have my tools with me. It can be done, but it's an excercise in frustration, having a decent snap ring pliers makes it a 30 second job.
Just did mine on Saturday when I changed my bars out to 13's. Like others have said it is more to take it apart then to change it. There are some good videos on youtube. You should have no problems. Below is the link to the LA Choppers Prime Apes install that shows all the steps. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik73i5x3jdI
