Default Replacing Radio Switches

I just installed the chrome switch housings on my dresser, FLHTC and when removing the radio switch from the left side, the switch came apart. got everything back in but it doesn't work. The radio will still play but you cannot adjust the volume or toggle through any of the other functions.
Does anybody know if you can just buy the switch from harley? and maybe just splice it in or will I be out big bucks buying the whole left side handlear harness?

Tom, Switches are replaceable.....

Just make sure that your solder joints are VERY FINE and compact......

And no extra wire left loose or bunched up... when you reinstall the bottom plate on top of the switch, you don't want to pinch them....

BTW, Nice to see "Old Skool" in the sig line now....

Default RE: Replacing Radio Switches

I replaced the Volume switch in my left control housing. The new switch came with short wires and I soldered the wires together. The switch comes with shrink tubing to cover solder joint. If you are handy with a soldering iron and you keep the joint neat and short as possible, it can be done. Pay attention to wire placement to prevent pinching.
FYI, my volume switch was shorted. The radio would not power On with the volume switch plugged into the harness under the fairing. I could unplug the controls with the volume switch, then the radio would power On OK.
Good luck.

Thnaks guys. That is like an early Christmas present for me, I thought I was going to have to replace the harness and was not looking forward to the extra expense or work.
