Default SG seat help

Looking at getting a Street Glide but the stock seat pushes me too far forward and the controls feel too close. Don't think I am tall enough to get extended controls. Thinking I can just change out the seat to push me back a little. I am 5'11" if that helps.

Thx for any input. Tried searching but didn't see anything that helped.

C & C seats(Sport tour anyway) will sit you back 3/4 to 1 inch further back than do the stock-er seats on the SG.

this is the HD Brawler solo seat, which is down and back about 1.5" from the SG seat.

my problem is, I ( 6'2") have to lift my foot and rotate the hip out to land my foot at stops.
the SG seat I just drop my foot off the boards- and I like the bumper at the rear of the SG seat to keep me positioned. The sg seat is fine for up to 4 hours, painful after 6.

I use an ultra seat when touring, I like an upright position for 10 hour days.

most dealers have a "fit shop" when they can show you different seat, bar/control and suspension drops.

try that first.

new owners seem to go through alot of "seat bingo" many of those seats end up on the classifieds forum here at 1/2 price.

Do yourself a favor and toss that stock Harley seat and call Chuck at C&C Seats. He will "put" you in the seat where ever you need to be...up, down, back, forward or some combination....it will be your seat. Great saddles and superb craftsmanship. Forum members get 10% off.

I ended up going through 3 seats for my Deluxe. Don't want to end up in the same boat dropping 1K on seats.

Thx for the ideas so far. I ride 2 up sometimes with the wife but I could put the stock seat back on when she rides with me.

I've used the HD Badlander seat on my last two Road Kings and my current Softail.

My suggestion would be to ride the bike for awhile and see how it treats you. Then you will have a better idea of how far down, back, etc. you need to go.
Then sit on a few Glides to determine which seat works best for you.

Another vote for C&C! GREAT cutomer service, fantastic craftsmanship & 100% made in the USA! A winning combo in my book!

Honestly, I think most of us are doomed to the same fate in the quest for the perfect seat. Fact is, even if you have a kick a$$ seat maker in close proximity to you, it's going to feel different after 100, 200, 300 miles, there's just no good way to pre-test a seat.

That said, for you, you might consider Mean City. I've read nothing but good things about them, if you overall like the stock seat, then having them mod it a bit at a time, or add memory foam, or whatnot may be what the doctor ordered. And even if you have to ship it back and forth a few times, the overall cost will probably be less than a brand new seat.

I'm currently bouncing between that and doing C&C, but I'm going to put some miles on the stocker first...

BTW, also went from Deluxe to Street Glide. Can't wait for warm weather! Being a dumba$$ I bought my bike in the winter...
