With mine, an 08 96 with 41,000, when the idle temp control kicks in, sometimes the second cylinder doesn't come back on line instantly and there is a definite lack of power during the transition. Also, my throttle body had accumulated a ring of goo in the bore on the inside side of the throttle plate. Cleaning that out seems to have improved transition off idle also.

I agree I might be paying to much attention.

The new compensator makes the bike behave much better at low parking lot speeds. It used to almost surge when crawling through the parking lots, but that's all gone now. Also had to replace the inner primary bearing at the same time. She was making some serious noises in neutral, that's why I tore into it.

You were correct Sir, changed the compensator and that solved my problems.

I posted pictures of what my compensator looked like when I replaced it.

My bike has 71,000 on it and I experience the same thing when it's really hot. I start off in 1st but it seems like 2nd. Once I get moving, everything is fine-it's just a slow start.

I've had the SE comp for 30-40k. A thousand miles ago I changed all the fluids and found some bigger than normal metal chunks (it's usually just fuzz) on the primary drain plug. They looked like tiny wire-about 1/8" long. There were 3 of them along with some other stuff and the fuzz was there also. Dealer said not to worry about it but I don't think it's gonna get any better.

Something is tearing up in my primary, so sooner or later it'll be back at the dealer for troubleshooting. I'll have them give a good look at the comp and if there's any question, I'll have them replace it.

It really doesn't bother me but like you, I notice it and wish it didn't do that.

Thanks for the update.
