Stage 1 at the dealer for $2200! Ouch! That's exhaust, air and a flash of the ECM? Just for comparison, I got a new head pipe, dyno tuned mufflers, hi-flow air cleaner with billet cover, PowerVison tuner AND a Woods TW-555 cam for under $2,000 from Fuel Moto. I live close, so had them install it all, tax and everything, out the door in four hours, just under $2300, and a whole bunch more increase than 5 ft/lbs of torque!

Installed all myself. labor=fun. Dyno tuned= $150. 96 c.i. now has almost 80 h.p. Just be patient shopping. Took me about 2 months to get it all together.

Not 100% true. A bad tune can fry a motor, and they'd have every right to deny a warranty claim on it. Unlikely, but possible.

Exhaust and air cleaner is one of the easiest thing you can do and a great intro to working on your own bike. I think once yo start it, you'll see it's not that bad. Plus one thing I've come to realize is that I enjoy working on the bike almost as much as I enjoy riding it now, so it keeps me sane in the winter months...

Since you have a new-er than an 09 model I will say that it may not cost you that much. A good set of slip-ons, $400, a 09 Head-pipe, $100, a PC-V $300, an Arlen Ness Big Sucker A/C $115. Your labor free = $1000, or pay someone to do it and you'll be at $250 for labor.
So __________ line should not cost over $1300 tops.

Buy the parts yourself, and DIY or take it to a wrench that you know, or ask around where you live. Never the less, you can save @least $1 K.

There are too many people now-a-days that are willing to help each other out for you to pay that much money for a couple HP / TQ..JMO

Consider just changing out the head pipe for a Fullsac cat-less one for now. That will change the sound and slightly increase the power.

Then consider something like the TTS tuner next...a bit more power and better running should result.

Just these changes will cost less then 1/2 what you've already been quoted and will most likely give as good if not better results.

Don't hurry into changing the ac or mufflers (stock mufflers will change sound over time) until you see how the a new cat-less header and tuner works...you might like it!

My buddy (by nature a tight SOB) has a 10 Ultra, and is trying to get the factory to help a bit with the cost of adding a SE compensator. His stock comp is banging away at start up. He isn't looking for a free ride. A break on the labor or credit for his old comp would make him happy.

HD customer service keeps bring up the Rinehart slip ons, and Power Commander that the dealer installed as the reason not to partially cover the cost.

So beware, for certain warranty issues, even dealer installed aftermarket parts can create a problem.

Personally I like the way my bone stock 11 RK runs and sounds so well I have no desire to change a thing. I have never noticed any heat issues either. So I say keep the $2200 in the bank!
