Quick tank badge mod
After painting my bike and was getting ready to re-install the tank badge, I decided the chrome looked funny (since I blacked out all the rest) and looked at getting some of the different HD badges like from the StreetBob or the newer Street Glide since they had some black on them. Then I thought hmmmm... Why not paint the one I had black? So out comes the scotchbrite and I scuff them up to prep for paint. Painted them black but didn't like the look of them because the shadow made it look too bold and illegible since it was all black. Off comes the paint... Then I ran the scotchbrite pad back over them keeping a nice horizontal grain in the finish. I decided to just go with it that way and it blends in much better than the chrome badge with my silver paint. Just gotta watch how hard you rub down on it or you'll go straight thru the chrome exposing the copper plating. I'll try and add a pic later as I'm on my phone now and can't post pics.
