It isn't a touring bike, but I just added this box to my Dyna. It seems like a decent value for the cost. The paint is good and the box seems tough. I used detachable side plates and Jackyl's tour pack mount. I dunno if it helps a touring guy, but here are a couple of pics:

i'm impressed with how that mutazu trunk looks. is it fiberglass or abs plastic? it'd sure beat the cost of the official harley tour pack, and would likely haul stuff just as well.

I had one for several years. It held up pretty well.
They are a cost effective solution.
I eventually replaced it with a full size tour pack.

Mine is "Out For Delivery", or so says the Big Brown Parts Van's tracking system. I also got a detachable tour-pak mount from Surdyke that will arrive with the trunk. Once it's all set up, I'll mount it on the bike and post some pics. Mine is a Mutazu trunk (ordered from them here - and for $280 (trunk and mount), all the postings about these boxes made it a no-brainer.

The MoCo wants $750 for the King Tour Pak painted to match- PLUS the $180 for the detachable rack. Granted, I'm sure the plain white isn't going to be a perfect paint-match, but do the math: $129 for the box shipped, $156 for the bracket shipped = $285 total. For the HD part through Surdyke: $727 for the White Hot Denim King Tour Pak shipped ($673 + $54 to ship to NY) , plus the $156 for the detachable mount = $883 total.

For my purposes, and my bank account, the Mutazu trunk is the much smarter choice. If folks on here (or anywhere) don't like it- tough. I pay for the bike, I ride it, and I have to live with it. They start writing the checks and fueling it for me, then I'll defer to their desires.

The Mutazu is ABS plastic; very similar in construction to the Road King tour paks HD sells minus the vinyl/leather cover. It holds 75-80% of what the HD King TP holds.

In running the numbers for the HD King TP, vhmike73 omitted the cost of the backrest (~$199) and lock (~$20).

I got one of those. Traded a tire I no longer needed for it.
Looks like it belongs on the bike. The OL loves it.
The Black matches bike perfect. can't speak for other colors .
Vibrates a little when empty but does the job. Holds a bunch too.

DOH!! And here I thought it was only a great savings- add in the parts Carl (Harleypingman) reminded me I need, figure you'll also want the upgrade hinges (+ ~$40)... oh yeah, I'm satisfied with the choice! I prefer this backrest (included on the Mutazu) over the one with the 'arms' too.

I've added some pics I snapped once I fixed it to the detachable bracket. One note: their bolt pattern DOES NOT match up to the HD detachable bracket 53276-09A at all. The HD bolt pattern is narrower and longer between each bolt hole than the Mutazu pre-drilled holes.

The trunk is the basic white; I wasn't sure if the pearl version would be a closer match to the White Hot Denim paint, but without direct sunlight, it's pretty good. You really need to get up to the bike to realize it's not the same, though I expect the difference to become more obvious once I see it in real bright sunlight. But for $285 shipped (trunk and bracket), it's a pretty good deal. And, if I ever hit the lottery and can to buy an HD color-matched King Tour Pak (or chopped), I already have the detachable bracket, so I'll save down the road. All that's left now is to remove the "VIP" badge and put an HD sticker on there!

Just buy it, worst case, you eBay the box and keep the detachable mount kit for when you score a genuine HD box.

I've got this one and use it on my RoadKing now and then. It works well and the wife loves the backrest. I don't use it very often because the wife rides her own bike most of the time. The only problem with it is that the latch vibrates when no one is riding behind me and the rattle gets annoying.
