I'm one of the suckers who bought one of those cheapie tourpaks. It's a Mutazu. I paid $50 for mine and got it right here from a guy on this forum. I painted it to match my scooter and bolted it down to a quick disconnect tour pak mount I found used on Ebay.
I like mine but I like paying $50 much better than $900. Shop around and see what they're going for new. I don't remember but I think they aren't too much more than what that guy is asking for his, maybe $150 - $200.
I bought one because I knew I wouldn't use a tour pak but every once in a while. It is actually kind of nice to have. Here are 2 more pics. One shows 3 helmets in it to reference the size. Shop around on ebay. The dealer I bought this from had a tether on both sides and also came with a bag that fits the shape of the tour pac. Nice to zip up and carry into a hotel room.
I bought one awhile back in "denim black". I'll be damned if the paint match was about 95% close ! It is smaller in capacity and not as rigid. The weak point looks to be the hinges but no problems as of yet. It has been waterproof and works well for my needs. I also bought a $30 stainless steel top rack and that has also worked well. I have about $250 into my case/rack/4 point dock mount and for me it has been a bargain. On/off in seconds and convenient...
You're "ignorant"; criticizing something with which you have no personal experience.

This is exactly why u only pay attention to those who owned tried what u want to do as stated earlier!! Some folks ought to be jumping out of little cars with red ***** for a nose and faces painted...Like in the circus
I have one like the Matazu(sp). But only $58. it has the same mounting frame and all. It looks great and hauls stuff I need. I got the HD mount and slid it back some. The wife loves it. Now the bad news... The base cracked at every mount hole due to the flexing and yes the lock chatters. I am searching for reenforcement solutions to stop the cracking cause I just bought a house and $950 is a slap in the kisser for an OEM.
Sorry to all the OEM ****'s, heap on the abuse cause busted hinges on a $950 OEM is even more frustrating than reenforcing the mount holes on a $58 Matuzu.
I bought the cheap eBay one also. Only thing I have yet to put in it was a case of beer. I was pretty happy that that fit. My wife likes the back rest on it. No regrets. Maybe if I start using it regularly I will think about the hd one.
I got this on Amazon. $135 with free shipping. Its good enough for the price, not HD part, not HD quality, but I can buy seven of the before I get the HD price
i'm impressed with how that mutazu trunk looks. is it fiberglass or abs plastic? it'd sure beat the cost of the official harley tour pack, and would likely haul stuff just as well.
There's a reason it's cheaper than an official Harley tourpack. Plastic hinges, cheesy latch, and much smaller. I had one on a previous bike. It doesn't make sense to me to put a $138 tourpak on an expensive motorcycle. Mutazu makes one now that looks like a Harley tourpak, it's about $300, but has steel hinges and would look a lot better, IMHO.
