Default A or B motor?
excuse my ignorance but how do I know if I have an A motor or a B motor? I have a 2000 Road King Classic FLHRCI

B is the Balanced version for Softail models only I believe.

Correct, A motors are in Dynas and Touring frame bikes.

Default Rubber mounts and balanced motors
I always wondered this but now I thought it would be a good time to ask. Why can't they install balanced motors on rubber mounts to have the best of both worlds?

I have also wondered if they offered either an A or B motor in the touring frames which one would sell better. I gotta believe that a balanced motor in a touring bike would be preferred.

The touring motor is rubber mounted and the softail is ridgid. Harley has done consumer surveys that indicate that the touring bike rider prefers the shake at stops. More of a traditional Harley experience. I've often wondered the same as you, a B motor in the rubber mounted touring frame seems like a no brainer.

I agree springer, that combo would be a no brainer. I wonder who the company put the survey out to anyway?
