Center mounting puts it right in your field of view without looking down and to the side and it is closer making the screen easier to read. It is just a Ram Ball mount, about $12 I think. I also bought a 3” Ram arm, about $20 or so, bringing it up an inch. The tops of the gauges are only slightly obfuscated. With a marine grade fused cigarette lighter adaptor it allows you to dismount it very quickly leaving only the Ram Ball.
I have the part #s if anyone wants them.

Dealer said look at Ram Mount.

I looked at them and the way it mounts to the bar with a single u bolt looks cheap to me. The ram mount itself looks good but I'm not used to using "hardware store" type u bolts on my bike.

Anyone else know of better quality mount?
Thanks
Here is my set up - little spendy but I really like it - Kuryakyn has a new GPS/Fuel lid mount $129.00 - I already had Touratech mount (about 200 bucks!) - it's made from stainless - quality unit - lockable and it rubber mounts your ZUMO! Not that a Harley vibrates - You can just go with just the Kuryakyn mount - I didn't hard wire my GPS - I use it off it's battery pack - I don't have it on all the time - the battery will last 5 hours - then I just recharge it at the motel at night if on a trip - anyway - here's some pix's - works for me - tom

I don't like the idea of the U-Bolt, but have seen some good options on various threads, including this one. Here's one I've held onto that seems promising. At least another option.

I did this as well. I ran power from the spare wire behind the headlight, up between the windshield & inner fairing and under the windshield bags. When the GPS is not mounted the power wire tucks into the bag and is out of site.

I have the same Ram Handlebar Mount and ditto on your reply plus I was surprised at how stable the mount was as far as being able to observe GPS due to vibration. Very pleased with mine.

I bought a mount from eglidegoodies, to get a decent looking set-up.

If you regularly carry a passenger it is well worth locating the gps where they can see it, rather than dead centre. I fixed mine on one side, where I could see it best and so it didn't obscure any of the instruments on my bike, only to discover later that my wife can also read it. So now we navigate together, with her giving me instructions over our intercom. Really helpful in traffic, or if a junction coming up is awkward, or when riding hairpin bends.
