I mounted mine in the middle of the fairins as did Potato-Potato did. The only differenc is I put mine on the top of the fairing with a short 2" ball clamp. You can see in my sig pic, the GPS in the sig is a street pilot, but have sence changed to a Zumo 550.

With the 16" apes your up there quite high
Then use a adapter to mount in what ever length you desire under the bars to support your GPS hanging under the bars
