If you use the USB adapter in the cigarette lighter, how waterproof is it or do you unplug it when it rains? I have one and was gonna use it with a USB charging cord.

I have a Nuvi 360NA on a Ram mount and use a plastic baggie over it when it rains.

On mine I've covered the GPS with a plastic baggie also. I still use the USB adapter in the rain but not in a downpour. I haven't seen water in/on the cig lighter area in the fairing during rain, but YMMV.

I have 1 accessory switch on my dash that isnt being used. No Idea how to hook up GPS using it. I do all my own mechanical work on the bike including mileage service, just stumped when it comes to electrical. Willing to do it with some help, I just would rather not take it to the dealer...

Don't know where you are located...but if you are close to souteast Michigan...bring the bike over...we will have it all wired and ready to go in about 20 min, and it won't cost you a dime.

Best bet is the headlight wires...its powered when the ignition is on, so you can't leave it on when you walk away from the bike. Did mine the day I got her, 4 years ago, no issues.. Had the GPS on the previous bike also...

Save your accessory switch for something that you need it for...you don't need a switch for the GPS.

I used one of these and ran the wire through the fairing with the clutch cable after hooking up to the wires by the headlight

At the top left of this forum, go to 'User CP' > Edit your details > fill in your location. You've had 1 offer from Michigan to help. If we knew where you are, you would probably get more offers. This site is pretty good like that.

I like this solution. Could you give me an idea of which points inside the fairing these are? I wanted to wire my GPS. Thanks Adrian

HD provided two wires off the headlight wiring, near the headlight plug, the purpose of these is for accessories such as a GPS. In fact, my instructions for my Zumo 660 GPS mount from HD stated to use the wires off the headlight for power…. removing your outer fairing is a 5 minute job - buy a service manual.
