I ride a lot at night and early morning. I have a $150 HID kit purchased on-line at t-something baggers.com. Not impressed. Better than stock. More visible during the daytime. Wished I had had spent the $150 on the HD dual-halogen or added another $150 and bought the trucklite phase 7. No way will I spend $550 at HD for their LED headlight.

+1 on the HD LEDs on my 2006 RKC. I would not be as concerned about cagers from an angle, just gotta be ever vigilant, but more concerned about what is up ahead on the road and shoulder. There is an older post that had a link to an impressive unbiased comparison of the TL and HD LEDs. The HD won hands down as far as road and shoulder illumination.

From all I have read and seen (Daytona 2012) I don't see that there is a significant performance difference between the HD LED's and the the TL LED's, night or day. But IMO I think the chrome HD's look better on the bike than the TL's which appear to have a darker lens. But you'll have to pay the bigger price less any discount you can find if that has any meaning to you. Either way you go you'll be happy you have LED's for night riding as they make a huge difference in lighting up the road.

@icepick: The new TL Phase 7 has been reviewed and is right up there now with the HD LED for side and forward illumination. I can vouch for this too. Had the P6 and now the P7. Big improvement.

@bingee: The lens is not darker. It is the black bracket reflecting on the inside that gives the impression of a smoke lens. Added bonus IMO.

Here is the link to my site, these are being shipped out as we speak. I am working with my suppliers to see if i can get the price down, but i might have to commit to buying a decent amount of raw materials...I will keep you posted.

the jump from phase 6 to phase 7 yielded a significant improvement? What are you impressions of the phase 6 in comparison to say the dual halogen HD set-up or others? I am trying to force myself to commit to $250-300 for a single light bulb and am challenged to do so and I drive a lot at night and early morning. Obviously, I have no desire to spend $550 for an HD headlight. So looking for ways to improve my lighting without breaking the bank.

I installed the Truck Light Phase 7, and it is a significent improvement over the stock system, and also over using upgraded bulbs.

I purchased this for my street glide instead of installing passing lights. Really like the cleaner look on the glide.

Even with my older eyes, this give me enough light to drive relaxed at night. No flashing from oncoming cars, and it is a really high quality piece.

The dark look goes well with my black metal flake paint, and think it is money well spent.

I'm well aware of that.

Your wording didn't give the indication that you did. Either way others may not realize it.

hillcountryflt: The Phase 6 is an awesome light and is plenty bright. I can't really compare to the dual set-up as I have never had it or seen it in person. The big improvement with the P7 is better side illumination. Not saying the P6 was bad. This is just better. Trust me when I, and every other satisfied user, say it is well worth the money. Especially since you drive alot in the darker hours. You won't be disappointed.
