Cool Cam Install price.

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can seem to find a thread for it. I was wondering how much it would cost a dealership to install the cams, just a ballpark figure. I would love to do it myself but do not know if I would have the correct tools or if it should even be done at home. Are the cams all i would have to buy or are there a list of other parts that would be needed. I have a 2006 electra glide classic with a stock 88 motor other than a power commander and slip ons.

Thanks in advance!

Bearings, gaskets ....... it can be done at home and doesn't require an expert. Although, I had my last one done at the shop because it was quick and I had the money. For your price comparison, I had the complete exhaust swapped out along with the air cleaner, added the cam and the job was $320.

Awesome. 320 is not that bad considering it would save me a lot of time. Ill check with my local guys and see if they can do it for around that price

I'd suggest you call your shop of choice and get a quote. A dealership is going to go by their book that shows the labor hours for the work. An indy is likely going to give a better rate.

It doesn't look that difficult if you have the space and patience.

It depends on if you go with adjustable push rods, if you use them they dont have to tear the top end apart to do the job they just cut the old ones out and install the new ones. I had mine changed out a month ago and they charged me $280.00, you can negotiate more at the dealerships in the winter months I have come to find out.

Here in Colorado the prices seem higher. The quotes I've received within the last month were $945 from the dealer, $745 from one indie, and $765 from another indie. With those prices I'm in the market for a cam bearing tool.
