I am not following you on the carpeted 4x4 . After it is slid under the bike where are you supposed to be attatching a strap from where to where? I can't in my old mind where that is going to be.

Thanks.

I use the forks and just pull it down do not like the 4x4 method , if it happns to work out your bike will be loose , checked with dealer and was told that is the way they tie the front and no problems at all to do this , not doing it all the time or storing it like that so it makes sence to me , then just hook to the peg mounts and pull back , I allso rap the wheel with a strap and pull back on it , rather have to many than not enough , 4 on the front and 3 on the rear

That is kind of my thoughts on that you need more rather than less. I usually have at least four in front and two in rear.

Thanks

I also tied down to the rear passenger pegs. Also don't think it was really necessary but for peace of mind when I trailered my bikes from SC to WI I zip tied the ratchet straps closed. Extra peace of mind that it won't pop open.

This is the way I tie my Ultra down with. it also is the same way the dealer says they tie them down. But the dealer told me they only use the two straps on the front end only, but that bothered me . i put the two on the forks at the fender, two on the frame by the top of the crash guard and two on the back useing rear floor board mounts and never had any problems like this

In the crate they are tied down to the lower crash bar/frame area. I did that with mine on the front, and to the saddlebag guards in the back.

I went to the dealer to ask, they have a big trailer they haul bike between dealers with, they tie them down to the driving light frame in the front and to the passenger peg mounts in the rear. I was pretty dubious, but they haven't had a bike tip doing that. I did it on my bike last time I trailered it and it worked just fine. For long distances I put a second set of tiedowns on the frame behind the crash bar mount for insurance.
