A. The clutch cable was too short. I tried every routing possibility but at full lock, the clutch would become slightly disengaged. A new 5" longer Barnett cable was installed. B. The throttle and idle cables were too short. The throttle setting would change at full lock despite being held stationary at the hand grip"
I have a 2009 the write up was for a 2002
For those of you with 2009 up does this hold true with TBW, Clutch and FBrakes ??
Searches on here show that you need a +4" clutch cable. I believe you need longer brake lines if you have ABS. The remainder of the wiring, including the TBW is long enough, but some have changed the TBW to a longer one to avoid issues with the connector through the bars.
I haven't changed my bars, I'm deciding between the 575's and the 577's.
some have gotten away with rerouting the clutch, but a +4 lets u keep it in the stock location, lessons the chance of binding kinking or disengaging at full lock.u don't have throttle cables u have wires.as for the brake line on my 07 it worked but had to straighten 2 of the bends, did it by hand no problem.
Yep, I used a +4 clutch cable and the wire on the tbw were just long enough. If I was to do over again I would lengthen the cables on the tbw due to you cannot pull out the twist grip sensor very much and it will disengage the green clip and it's hell getting it plugged in again and have to pull the wires from the connector under the fairing out the handlebar clip the green clip again and route the wires through the bars and back to the connector.
Also, the brake line is just long enough for these bars without changing to a longer one.
You might be able to make the different cables reach by rerouting, but I would not do it that way! I personally would buy the longer pieces and avoid the rerouting scenario. It's a lot of extra work and expense, but I feel that it's the correct way of doing the job. And in the long run it's just easier, cleaner and better!
I just finished the 575's and I went with a +4 clutch cable and it was perfect.. no way the stocker was gonna work. The bars are not only more pull back but wider so that adds to it. all of my wires made it fine all be it the conectors are not mouted on the fairing supports anymore but tucked next to the radio.. all good though and love them.
