I got the flat detachable mounting plate for my SG, plugged it inline on my tailight harness under seat. I got my KTP from cycleparts for less for $637. and got lucky with the LED light bar. A shop in Florida tapped the black part with a drill bit during install (not even noticeable) and the customer had them start over, so sold it for couple hundred off. They are pricey new, but the traditional incandescent bulb light bars intrude into the interior space taking up quite a bit of room. The LED bars are on the outside which gives you more interior space, and the lighting is a lot brighter and safer. I also added the smoked side LED's and the LED luggage rack on top.
Just got back from the dealer. This kit is not a plug and play for the 2012 FLTRX. I am going to have to have a custom Y harness made in order to get it to work. Looks like I will be connecting to the 6 pin molex under the left side cover.
This is why I think they changed the harness. I've added pix where I think the harness should be. Only thing I find is the shock crossover air line.
Your second picture shows the hole where on other models the rear lighting harness goes inside the rear fender is plugged. Another example of the unexpected differences between Touring models.
It's also an example of how useful it is to have the HD Touring Service Manual for your bike. Typically, the wiring diagrams in the appendix will reveal the differences in the Models.
Kieth at Ride time made me a harness that conected to the six pin molex connector under the left side cover to my detachable tourpack, he is familiar with what is required to do this.I recently had him make a module for the CVO led tourpack light that makes the lights run, turn, brake. My led tourpack light( 67914-10) didn't come with this module. The light came with the harness that connects under the seat which is of no use to late model FLHX owners so I had him make a harness/module that also operates tourpack side lights as Run/turn signals .Best bet is to give him a call and tell him what you are trying to accomplish, he has pretty well seen it all before. Great guy to work with
Spoke with Keith at length yesterday. Ordered the Y harness he recommended this morning. Finished drilling the tourpak last night (directions on drilling were pretty useless. Drilled the holes the sizes called for on the template, not in the directions.) Didn't like the idea of drilling into a new tourpak, but one's gotta do.....Now I'm debating whether to color match the wrap around frame to the bike color. Not sure if it would be too much BBP.
