Default moving quick detatch back

Anybody know of a manufacturer or a way to move the backrest farther back on an 06 flhti. All it should require is different uprights on the setup. The factory backrest sits over the seat by 3 inches.Any suggestions would be appreciatted, thanks.

He is right, I had to drill holes in mine to move it back to make room for Corbinseat, it sat to far forward as it was.

I'm guessing it mounts similar to the hardware on my FLHRCI. Take a look at the side of the rear mounting bracket. Your backrest hardware is mounted on one hole and there is another hole lower and slightly forward. I drilled an additional hole between these two. I used the strap that runs from the rear bracket forward to locacte where to drill the new hole. What this does is allow you to rotate the backrest to the rear and slightly down. Looking at it, you can't tell any difference but I gained an additional 1.25" . I found this modification on another Harley message board. It's pretty simple. If you can't figure it out, let me know and I'll try to find a link with pictures.

Not quite sure what to say here, except I've done it, have you? I haven't studied the mounting for a FLHX or a FLHTI so I can't speak on those models with certantity. Only made a suggestion, mr.claire will have to sort it out for himself.

Cut and weld will create whole new set of problems, just moved to a different city and new house, garage is not wired for the welder. Ground is frozen and its to cold to rewire. I agree that usually, if you want it done right do it your self, applies. I thought there might be a production part that would save some time, thanks for the replys though.
