Default ipod interface install problem

I have installed a new ipod interface on my 2011 FLTRU but only get sound from my ipod on my left speaker. the instructions told me to insert 5 wires into the 35-way connector on the back of the radio. 4 of the wires went into the spaces the instructions called for .the 5th wire violet/gray was suposed to go into position 19 but it already had a yellow/black wire in that position. the only spot left with out a wire was position 17 so i put the violet/ gray wire in position 17.any help would be appreciated.

Pin 19 is the audio ground for the module.
No idea what would already be there...it was originally designed for the never used CD changer.
The pin you used is for the headphone -.

You should double-check your work to make sure you are using the correct pin positions. Don't be sticking stuff in vacant pin holes if you don't know what you are doing. It WILL cost you money in the short run because you could ***** something up. Take your time.

thank you. do you have a service manual that indicates the colour for pins #13 thru 23 so i can check if i have i wire in the wrong hole?position 17 should have had a factory installed wire in that position and #19 should have been open.

The yellow/bk wire should be in 17. Put the violet/gray wire in 19 and you should be good to go.

Wiring diagrams are included in the HD Service Manual available from your HD dealer.

Lemme know how you like it once you get it going. It sounds like something I would use, but they're asking a lot for it.

I'm sure you've done so multiple times, but I'd check again to be sure you have the right chamber numbers--I say that only because it's not common for the factory to make a mistake when assembling a common connector.

Default ipod

I read the block wrong the block is numbered from one side 1 thru 12 then from the same side 13 thru 23 then 24 thru 35 . So i had the pin in the correct hole. but I still only have sound out of the left speaker. the rest of it works well the song title and artist are displayed on the radio display and it is easy to move for song to song.I may have damaged the wire that connects the ipod to the unit. I connected the wire to the back of the control box to check the lenght and when i disconected i did not realise there is a slip collar on the wire to release the conection . I may have pulled 1 on the connection pins loose in the block.but i canot find any visible damage.

Push all of the wires into the connector while the connector is seated to make sure you have good contact. When you plugged the 35 pin connector back in, you may have pushed a pin back out if it didn't lock.

IMHO the iPod interface that Iron Cross sells is better than the HD unit. It took me longer to take my fairing apart, than it did to install the interface.

Any details on the Iron Cross kit? Does it still allow full control through the handlebar controls, and does it also show the information on the screen?
