well if you work on your own bike let them replace the oem pipe , you can but any system you want and put it on your self for 1/2 or less than they will get you for , same thing happened to me
Well, I ordered the Khrome Werks dual header system ...
I now understand the KW pipes have a cross-over. For the price difference between the OEM pipes and the KW pipes, I elected to move the heat a little further from the passenger. Perhaps it is not an issue, but, this seems to be the best choice with the information I can gather at this time.
Mmm '05s did have a heat problem. Sounds like the dealer is fishing for a upsell. The stock head pipes make good power. Save the dough and spend it on something you really need like cams.
My head pipe has cracked twice. My indy just welded it up for about $10.
Had my bike serviced last week - after years of being the only one to work on her, got a second set of hands. They said I need header, wanted 300 for new and I did not want to rush. Ended up with a use header with o2 sensor.
Now the problem, the bike runs well; but the Hookers make too much noise. Radio, tweeters and amp can't be heard. No way I can run a few hundred miles without plugs.
Question? SE or Jackpots? Leading toward 3.5 jackpots.
Dealer installed the Khrome Werks header pipes; matched with the V&H Monster Ovals, the bike sure sounds great. The Heritage bars are very comfortable. The braided SS cables ... well, they look cool. The passenger floorboard covers, well, they look cool too. I installed Harley Goodies floorboard extensions ... much better foot position. All in all, I am very happy with the look, the sound and the performance.
