Tw 555 cams?
I had the same question before I did my FM107 kit with the TW-555 cams. I haven't seen or heard of any valve train failures with anyone using the TW-555 cams. That said, I don't hear of any valvetrain failures in a Twin Cam engine.
FM did my install and they put in the Woods directional lifters. My engine is quieter than stock. I believe the noise has to do with three things: 1. how the pushrods are adjusted, 2. how loud your exhaust is, 3. your own tolerance or experience with engine noise.
For comparision's sake, I have 7000 miles on my 95" twin cam with an S&S 510G cam with no issues (my other bike). My brother has about 4000 miles on his 96" twin cam with an SE204 cam with no issues. My FM107 has no miles on it yet, just dyno tuned and waiting for spring.
Good luck.

I have heard that you need to do the lifters with Woods to minimize valve train noise. Nevertheless there are a bunch of posts on folks that did not and have not had problems. Good luck with your choice. I am going to a FM 107 in May and will report then.

The ramps on TW555's are slightly gentler than the stock cams, with the extra duration, the transition from valve opening to closing is milder. Other than a little more lift I think the TW555's are easier on the valve train than stock cams. The TW555's have some overlap and help reduce heat in the engine as a whole. I've found them to be an all round good performing set of cams.

No, the lobes of the 555's have a larger base circle than the stock cams. When you see them in person the ramps are obviously milder.

Time to put the crack pipe down, buddy.
