After riding with a fairing almost all last summer and fall, I realize that a plain windshield just will not work for me on my Road King. My hands are freezing numb and I have the Goretex leather HD gloves. I by chance ran across this guy who will remain nameless, and gave me the idea to do the following. Some may think its crazy, but it worked and it fits and is the beginning of a fun project.
Here is the mockup pic of phase one. I nibbled out the edge around the nacelle.
I then mounted my old fairing after grinding out the headlight area to my windshield.
My next phase will be stopping this week at the used table at my local dealer to pick up the inner fairing and clamshell them around my windshield. My goal is to use stock speakers and install a marine radio while maintaining the detachability. I will plug some of the holes with ABS pipe cement and then sand them down and paint the inner fairing as well. I rode this morning it was 38* outside, and about 28* with windchill, and was much better. I also need to pick up some lower fairings now too.
