Default Ordered Custom Dynamics Set-up today

I went ahead and placed an order to Custom Dynamics today. I ordered the 'Complete HD Turn Signal Conversion Kit' that includes:
  • Dynamic Ringz Front LED Driving Lights (which Garemlin recently installed/reviewed)
  • Genesis Rear Turn Signals
  • New Lenses (I ordered clear with kit, but added smoked in case I didn't like them, and for the price they are cheap throw aways)
  • Load Equalizer
Also ordered the "Magic Brake Light Flasher" for some extra bling in the back.

Also waiting for the HD "Tri-Bar Light Upgrade" to come in that will be installed as well (provides run/brake capability in the tri-bar fender light)

FYI on Custom Dynamics. I sent an email to 'tech support' asking if all was compatible (including the new tri-bar light) and I had a response within 15 minutes. So far, so good in my experience! Will post once I get it all installed, up, and running.

Update 2/27/12: Received an email 2.5 hours after submitting my order online letting me know the turn signal kit was out of stock and currently "in production". It should be completed within 3-5 business days and will be shipped the same day they are completed. Excellent feedback.

Update 3/1/12: Noticed my CC was charged this morning, and before lunch I had an email that my order had shipped, compelete with UPS tracking number. I'm still waiting for notification from the dealer regarding the Tri-Bar Light upgrade that I ordered the previous week. Go Figure. Next update will be when shipment arrives, then will post installation details of the whole enchalada.

Update 3/10/12: Finished the installation of the entire kit today. Well, today it's completely functional, not sure the installation is 'complete'. Note a few posts down the installation of the actual LED modules in the turn signal housings, Overall the lights themselves are very impressive. I'm less thrilled about the HD Tri-Bar Upgrade (HD PN 67774-10). Here's my impressions.

I purchased the Custom Dynamics Load Equalizer given I was buying the entire LED kit for my bike (CD PN GEN200AW-KIT-1157). Installation for me was tough. The module seems fairly large (about 1" x 1/2" x 4") and required that you connect it directly to your battery. The plugs that connect to the stock turn/brake cables are plug and play. However, the wires are very thin, and fairly short. There isn't much room under the left side panel as it is. I put the module in the space behind the battery and ran the plugs through the side of the battery box and out the frame. But with the short wires, it was tough to position them. I feel like I need to go back and provide some reinforcement for the wires so they don't rub and short against the frame or just wear through. If I paid someone to do this installation, I'd be disappointed as it's not quite warranty worthy in my opinion.

In addition I added the "Magic Strobe" (CD PN MAGIC-STROBES-SS6). This compounded the fit issue in the side panel. I placed the adjustable module just under the seat behind the battery (the Load equalizer is under the 'shelf' and kind of hidden) so I can get to it for easier adjustments. Same concerns with thin wires that are short, and this added yet another set of connectors under the left side panel. I got it all to work, but it took longer to figure out routing and how to tie things up than the actuall installation itself.

Summary: Custom Dynamics is a great company to deal with. Quick responses, good customer service, I would not hesitate to do business with them again. I'm loving the LED's front and back. MUCH brighter, I feel much better, particuarly from the rear of the bike. I'm also very happy with the 'Magic Strobe'. I've got it set on position #4 (Quad Strobe, solid, Quad Strobe, stays solid). This definately gets the attention of anyone behind you. I'm not sold on the Tri-Bar upgrade from HD for $130. It's nice, it's an LED so it works with the strobe function, but it just didn't give me the 'WOW' factor the other components did. If I were to do it again, I would go with the Biketronics LED Load Equalizer as it doesnt' require power, it looks to be smaller, and a well versed forum member swears by them. If the CD fails for some reason, it's Biketronics as a replacement.

Default Package Arrived!

Stayed home today to wait for my order from Custom Dynamics to arrived as they'd promised. Great communication even though one of my items was on back order, and the tracking number was provided upon shipment. So, it arrived today and while I haven't had time to install the load equilizer yet, I did install one front and one rear so I could effectively do a side by side comparison. I snapped a few pics from the rear, the results are amazing! Keep in mind I live in Southen California and the sun was directly above and behind me, so these pics are in full sunlight.

Not sure how to make these full size in the post so you'll have to open them to see the effect, sorry

Pictures in this post are with the stock red lenses on the rear. I have a set of clear, and a set of smoked that I'll try at a later point to settle on a final lens.

This is the running light. I also installed the HD Tri-Bar Light Upgrade last weekend. Note the Tri-Bar brightness (or lack thereof), but notice the left (Custom Dynamics) running light vs. the right running light (Stock bulb).

Here's the brake on. Again notice the Tri-Bar, left and right turn signals. I can only imagine how well these will light up tonight when I test them out!

I also installed one side of the Dynamic Ringz in the front turn signal. I'm too lazy to pull the bike out now and I can't really get a good pic with it in the garage. Garemlin did a great review of these here ( https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...installed.html )and really that's the basis of my purchase. Installation was as easy as 1-2, whoops, they're so easy there was no 3. I can say that they were throwing off some good light in the garage, so once again I can't wait to try them tonight and get the load equlizer installed to see the full effects out on the road.

Finally, I did purchase the magic strobe to provide some pulsing/strobe effects on the brakes for added attention. Hope to have that installed as well no later than the weekend.

So far so good . . . hats off to Custom Dynamics for quality and service!

Can you add some picture of the dynamic rings? How do you like them? Been thinking about adding them to my bike but want some feedback before taking the plunge

Here's a thread by Garemlin with a much better write up, pictures, and review of the Dynamic Ringz that I've done.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...installed.html
This is what I based a large part of my decision on before I made my purchase. I did have a few buddies ride in front of me, and toward me with the Dynamic Ringz in to get their feedback. They said they were very bright, and definately caught their attention. My girlfriend said that while driving toward me they were very bright, "but not obnoxious". I like the yellow center that flashes that seems to be more common of a turn signal than a flashing bright white light. As Garemlin correctly points out, the transition from yellow turn signal back to white does have a small but noticeable delay. Not a big deal. And again, if you need the load equalizer, I would give the Biketronics version a shot due to it's simpler, and what appears to be more compact design.

I would highly recommend the Dynamic Ringz. Worst case you got the solid yellow LED turn signals, they'll be brighter than stock. I'm sold on LEDs!
