Prior to the Tmax I experienced hard starts rough idle and a hesitation @75mph. I have the second kid on the way so I realized I am not buying another bike for a while. So I made the plunge.
Price: got it from Dr.Vtwin at a deep
discount. No one could beat it.
I had a guy put it in for me that has done it before. Charged me for 6.5hrs. I already had bungs for my o2 sensors.
When I got it back from the shop I fired it up to immediately realize that its reasonably louder. its cool with me but others may feel differently. Throttle response was quick. Probably a little slower than turning off a light switch but fast none the less.
I read through all of the liturature to find out I might have the wrong map loaded. However, I rode with that map for 100 miles prior to checking. I noticed a few pops on decel that didn't go away. This is what made me figure out what I was working with and where I need to be.
From reading the literature I realized that I could simply auto tune and my module would retune itself based on its learned conditions over the past 100miles.
After the auto tune I rode for another 100 miles and things got drastically better. Bike now pulls stronger up to 5500 when before it would fall off a cliff after 5000.
This is by far the most comprehensive, beneficial mod that I have made so far. I have essentially taken the bike out of the hands of the tuner. If you would rather not go to carb this is a great option.
It's not how many times you tune it, what's important is how many miles and riding sessions you put on, before you remap it through learned fuel adjustments. The more the better! It will average out any weird spikes over time.
