Default Load testing an H-D battery

The Battery Tender charges at very low amps, I wonder if a battery load test could be performed using that lead or would the resistance in the wire not allow an accurate load test.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Default At The Battery

A battery load test should performed AT THE BATTERY POSTS! A load test is nothing more than a controlled dead short. Testing thru a tender lead would blow the fuse, if not melt the leads.

+1 on what Jeff says .... ALWAYS load test at the source!

I don't know about your bike, but the leads on my Battery Tender are fused for 7 amps from their factory.

The new battery load testers are great, input the battery construction type... lead acid, gel, mat, and the CCA of the battery then it takes about a second to get the CCA available and the voltage

But I agree it is done at the source

I don't plan on doing it. It was only a passing curiosity. It surely would be convenient with the location of the new model battery location to be able to use the Battery Tender leads. It sure would save a lot of trouble removing the seat and everything on top of the battery.

Thanks for the input.
