I bought a used 2005 RKC and Im 5'8 so the windshield that came with the bike is right in my line of vision so I never use it. I was thinking of getting a 16 inch shield and swap the hardware, I think id rather have a smaller shield cuz Im not a fan of those big shields, Does anyone have a shorter one? Does it help and how does it look?
They have very reasonably priced sheilds that are curved at the top to deflect air up. I love mine - got the LRS 19" shield (they measure differently than Harley, this shield is about 3" lower than stock)
My stock shield was the same way...right smack thru my line of sight. I cut it down just about 3" off the top and that made all the difference in the world. So easy to DIY.
There are lots of how-to posts about this. I cut mine while it was ON the (covered)bike.
Poster board template, felt marker, blue tape, jig saw and a file. The bike will hold it for you but a buddy is still helpful.
