Hey Guys!
Been doing research for a recurve windshield and I am torn between a Freedom Shield or a Long Ride Shield. Right now I am leaning towards a Freedom Shield but the thickness kinda makes me a little leary. Does it leave a gap in your faring? Riding a 2016 FLHTCU. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I'm planning on buying a Freedom Shield in short order too. Would like to know the answer to your question about a possible gap. Can't imagine that they'd sell very many if they do leave a gap, but I would like to know for sure from someone who has one installed.
I've had a few different recurve style shields. One i cant recall, then aeroshield and now freedom shields. Freedom shields is the winner for polished smoothness and thickness. Also i went with the sport touring cut which i was afraid wouldnt have a large enough "pocket" of calm air. My concern was proven wrong. Plenty of calm air.
The slightly used 2016 RGU I bought in 2017 came with a Freedom shield on it. I like the way it looks, perfect height for me. But...., what I DON'T like is the distortion I see right where the recurve starts. Most times I'm looking over the shield, no problem there. But sometimes, going either uphill or downhill, I need to look through it, not over it, and that distortion can be distracting, especially in low light situations. A sometimes riding buddy with a CVO RGU, think it is a '15 or '16, also has the Freedom and also dislikes the distortion. And I think we both have the Touring model shield, not the sport.
