I used the Polk DXI speakers ,Had to trim the outer ring off of the grills to make them mount flush. I think that they turned out pretty well.I dont think that the CVO grills would work because of the way the tweeters protrude on the polks. Besides even if they did fit the HD emblem would be right in front of the tweeters, kind of counter productive .
The JL's will work in the lower hd lower fairings. You have to install a dampening material behind the speaker to make the speaker think its in a larger enclosure. My father-in-law has this setup on his street glide.
Is anybody making speaker enclosures for the lower fairings besides the MoCo? I am looking for aftermarket enclosures without the factory high prices.
Hawg Wired has adaptors for the glove boxes in both vented and non vented fairing lowers. You re-use the glove boxes, I believe.
Moco's prices are quite a bit better, and hold bigger speakers. But if you've got non vented lowers, the CVO speaker boxes don't work.
Yeah i just sold a set of Hawg wired 5 1/4 speakers for non-vented lowers last weak they looked like they would fit in my lowers but i wanted 6.5" speakers so it wasnt a big deal.
