Default PC-V and O2 Sensor Error Codes

I will try and make a long story as short as possible. When I traded my 2010 EG Classic for the 2012 Ultra I now have the PC-V was moved from the old bike to the new one by the dealer and a new map downloaded for the 103 engine. The new bike's performance was blah, was running hot, and getting crappy gas mileage. Today when I took the new bike in for its 1,000 mile service (different dealer than where i bought it), I had them check and make sure the O2 sensors had been disconnected as part of the PC-V install. Sure enough, they were still connected, and I told them to go ahead and disconnect them.

After finishing the service and test riding the bike the tech came out and said that the bike threw 3 error codes having to do with the O2 sensors being disconnected, but that it was running great now and the check engine light still goes out like normal, a couple of seconds after hitting the start switch. He said that unfortunately he can't clear the codes without plugging the sensors back in, and that would defeat the purpose of the PC-V. His recommendation was ride it like that. If for some reason the bike throws another code in the future for something else it would be easy enough to identify, and the bike runs very well. The other alternative was to switch to a tuner like the SERT or TTS, to the tune (pardon the pun) of an additional $400+. She's running noticeably better, so I don't really see the need to go this route.

My questions...and probably stupid ones I know....are: Is it normal to experience error codes with a PC-V like this? The check engine light never came on on my 2010 EGC but to be honest I don't know if there were codes or not. Also, I had planned on having the bike tuned in a couple of weeks. Is this going to present a problem for that? And lastly, is the tech right saying that it will be easy enough to pick out additional codes should they occur?

Did the dealer take off the resistors for the PC-V form your old bike? These have to be used in place of the O2 sensors.

If you are talking about the O2 sensor eliminators these weren't included as part of the kit from FuelMoto/Dynojet - the 2010 model year didnt require the sensor eliminators. Or do you mean something different?

Just installed a PCV on my 2010 FLHP w/ 103"... The directions say to disconnect the O2 sensors and mentions the fault codes. No check engine light, it runs great... nema problema

Same here with an 11 Ultra.

Instructions that came with the PC V said that there would be a couple stored codes for the O2 sensors, but that it won't keep the check engine light on, and won't affect the operation of the bike.

From the instructions:

7 Locate the stock O2 sensor connections and unplug both connectors (Fig. D)
The stock O2 sensors will NOT be connected to anything at this time. The sensors can be removed from the exhaust if you have a way to plug the hole.
Unplugging the sensors does NOT cause an engine light but will cause a historic code in the ECM for non-active O2 sensor. This is not causing any issues with the running of the bike.

I think you can check the codes yourself and clear them. Then come back and check for them again after you take it for a ride. The instructions for checking, clearing and identifying what the codes mean are listed in the Forum. Do a search from the main "forum" title bar for HD Diagnostics. I think the Dealer was trying to scare you into a sale for something you really don't need. Ride safe and often.
