Default Garage Setup

Just moved into new house with garage, new FLHX landed and want to set up garage to help keep my 7 & 3 yr olds away from bike. Last few bikes were POS and kids couldn't get near them. Can guys/ gals post any pics or suggestions. Thinking of building a small wall/stall.

Thanks in advance

Putting a cover over it will keep the munchkins off and will prevent scratches from toys. Another suggestion is to park your bike on a wheel chock so it will take up less space in your garage and use a simple moveable barricade

#1 answer: Keep them out of the garage

Bikes are just like guns, kids need to know to keep their hands off of things that aren't theirs. My kids were always real good about that stuff. The best prevention is boundaries,
I'm not preaching kid raising to you, but a good cover should be enough.

I have used large highway safety cones (3 ft tall app.) then used caution tape between them to rope the bike off.

Back when it mattered I took the time to teach my children. Neither of them ever damaged a motorcycle. Now I mention it twice to the parents of any visiting children. If it isn't handled by the second time I mention it I throw them both out.

I agree with everyone about training them but maybe the thought here is that no matter what, stuff happens, so why not minimize the damage.

Not sure how big of a garage and the layout with cars etc, but maybe you use one side wall and part of the back wall and then add an inexpensive metal fence. One side secure fence to the back wall and a post in the concrete floor, then put a fence door on the front. Just a thought. Good Luck and more importantly, CONGRATS on the new house.

so a story.

I'm in a diner, I come out and some DUDE has put his kid on my '53 fl--- scuff marks all over my tank

WTF

the kid is screaming 'cause Daddy put kid's leg on my exhaust.

daddy is screaming how he's gonna sue me.

I let him know in a low voice that I wouldn't deck him in front of his kids if he apologized and moved on.

he did.

he was too stupid to know that bikes are hot- not smart enough to be responsible

anyway, lots of stuff that little fingers shouldn't touch in any garage so a simple latch up high where they can't reach until they are older should do.

there is paint thinner, cans of gas, cutters tools etc.

child proof it just as you would the kitchen.
