Default Doing Daytona in 2 Vehicles

So I'm out state on training, I've been thinking about our (wife and I) daytona trip. I check the weather, and see that it's supposed to be rainy next Wed, whe we leave from home. Knowing my wife would be miserable I order her a new FF Helmet to help. I almost ordered her a rain suit. 10 minutes after ordering the helmet I get a phone call from my wife, asking me would I be upset if she drove down to Daytona in the car behindme. My 1st reaction was WTF??? Then I started thinking, she has been having problems with her back and when we went out for a 200 mile test run, she was sore for the next 2 days. Maybe this isn't such a bad thing.

Does anyone have the misses follow you in the car?

She wanted me to put the bike in the back of the truck and drive the truck, but I'm riding.

500 miles or more and my wife flys in. i pick her up at the airport and off we go. the money saved on nice motels and meals if she were on the back offsets the cost of the airline tickets--i can cover a lot more miles per day by my self.

Wife's comfort limit is about 6-8 hrs. That and the snow back home mean 2 vehicles or we don't go. Better 2 vehicles and a happy wife verses staying home or going alone.

There are many names for it:

A Sweeper
A Chase Vehicle
Supply Wagon (tools/gas/overflow/clothing)
Road Ranger

The thing is....put yourself in her shoes....how would you like being a passenger on the back of a motorcycle for even 50 miles in the rain or cold. Doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun does it? Be happy she is willing to go because frankly Daytona is more for us guys.

At least she wants to go!
And the 4 wheel vehicle will come in handy for shopping!

I know this is a Touring Model thread but I'll throw my .02 in anyway. No way the Wifey rides to Daytona on my Sporty. Although she loves to go on rides Her limit on this thing is about 30 minutes and even though we are only an hour and a half away she drives over and I ride. Much easier on her, Me and bringing our stuff. She's happy so I'm happy.

My wife wouldn't get on my Sportster witha badlander seat for even a ride around the block. This was after she's riden with me for 30 years on dozens of bikes. She said the seat hurt her "female parts". Well holy hell!!! We can't have any damage to those parts!!! Traded the Sportster for my Cop Glide, now she rides everywhere again. I suppose I could have gotten anew seat for the Sporty, but don't tell her that.

Weather in Daytona can be very iffy this time of the year. I think that this is great insurance that no matter the weather you will be able to get out and about!!
Personally i would let her follow me in the truck.....
Happy Wife...Happy Life!!
