low RPM Engine Vibration...Help
#11
??
Did you ever figure out the issue was? I just bought a 2010 RG in December and had to change the main drive gear and bearing and I noticed a slight vibration on deceleration and acceleration.
I haven't rode the bike much before the fix so I'm not sure if it's normal my 2001 road king doesn't do it but it has the 5 speed.
It feels like it's coming from the tranny or primary.
Thanks
John

Do you have the service records? Wonder if it still has the factory compensator. The factory did not upgrade the compensators until '11. The earlier compensators were right at their design limit with the 96 and 103 engines. A few lucky soles have had no trouble but many have had rattling noises, vibrations, and an loud metallic "crack" or bang when hitting the start button.

Exactly what Mike & Pat said.
He's lugging the motor if you running at 1500-1800rpm in anything but 1st gear or short time/distance in 2nd at such low rpm.
When you run the bike in 1500-1800rpm range esp cruising in higher gears and apply throttle it will shake the bike until you get the motor into higher 2,300-2,400rpm+ range.
But it seems as though if he kept the bike 1 gear down/lower then he's currently using in same cond the extra hvy engine vibration he's concerned with should be gone.
