About a month ago I noticed my enginewas vibrating more than usual while idling and at low speeds in 1st or 2nd gear. It would eventually smooth out in 3rd and was not noticable until slowing.
I checked theengine mounts, heck I even replaced the front engine mount. I removed the primary and checked the compensator and clutch assembly.
I checked the tire pressure and front forks even though it would vibratewhile the bike was not moving.
It turns out the vibration was coming from the slip on mufflers! I had recenty installed new clamps because the original ones were rusting and discolored. When I re-installed the slip-ons, I unintentionally pushed them in all the way so that they were not in a neutral positionin the rear brackets under the saddle bags. As a result they could notmove back and forthso the force of the engine movement was being re-distributed to the back of the bike resulting in excessive vibration!
I repositioned them so they are in a neutral position and eliminated the vibration.
Thanks for the post, mine are all the way on also and I have been fighting vibration since I bought the bike. Never thought about the pipes, but I will re-position them in the morning for sure.
