Suddenly the other day my engine started vibrating (differently) than it has since I got it. It's my 12 Roadie, which has race tuner, 777 cam, high intake, cat removed, SE pipes, hi perf clutch all installed 2500 miles ago by the dealer. It's like a 'fine' vibration, I can feel it in the floor boards, in the shifter... I was guessing it lost something like a bolt some where in the drive train, maybe one came out throwing it out of balance. It is definately in the engine/drive train, pull in the clutch and bring it back to idle at any speed it goes away. I took it back to the shop right away and they said they checked everything and nothing is loose, all torqued to spec... They find nothing wrong 'they all do that' ... Well, it isn't right, after 10,000 miles I know what it feels like. So back to my original question could there be something wrong with the tuner? Can I throw the original one back on it and see how it acts without hurting anything?

I had a vibration show up on my bike during a 5 day trip. "Fine" vibration only showed up at certain RPMS, I felt it and knew it was there, cause I know my bike. No one else could tell anything was different. Spent hours trying to track it down. Ended up being a little pebble stuck in a crevice. Got rid of the pebble vibration gone.
On another bike, about 6 years ago, felt a change in vibration. Could not track it down. Dealer could not either. Months later it got worse. Crank had twisted. I think it must have moved a little and that is what I felt, then when it moved more, everyone could feel it. Engine got replace under warranty.
I think I'd pay attention to what DK is saying if you read between the lines.
This could be anything from a rock in your tire, a loose bolt, a failing bearing, a crank twist in the making, etc.
Do you feel the vibration sitting still with a twist of the grip or is it only when moving you feel it?
And what the hell did they check for torque specs? The cam and primary covers?
Ultra, its definately in the engine.. It does it at anything above idle. While riding if I pull in the clutch it stops, so it's not in the tire. I don't think the azzholes at Harley did a dam thing. Beginning to believe they are no better than Pep Boys mechanics, parts installers.. I should've marked the screws on the primary cover.. I will pay a local independent now to take a good hard look at it. It vibrates enough that it requires effort to keep my feet on the floorboards. I know me, I'll trade the bike if it doesn't get resolved soon. I go far from home, not a guy who sells a 5 year old bike with 2000 miles.
well no one knows your bike like you do so I wasn't questioning the vibration part of it, that wasn't my point or what I was after. I was trying to pinpoint whether it was engine or tranny vibration. And I feel your pain. I had head work done to my 09 Ultra back in June, end of July i took off on a 5300 trek to strugis and back. I'm not sure what was done but that bike beat me to death on that trip and 10 days after i was back in town, I was in the local dealer getting rid of it.
From what you say I'll bet it's the new clutch. prob a bad, chipped, or broke disk. Hard to find unless you pull it apart. and it wouldn't necessarily slip, or feel different using it.

Thanks... That makes sense and worth a look. I plan to tell my indy to tear into it as far as he can to find the problem, I really like this bike, I got it just the way I want it, I don't want to start over again, but I will if I have to.
I picked up a vibration similar to that on the sporty .. It was the magnets in the compensator had came loose and shifted together. You should see that in the charging levels though
