Default Wheel Swapping

I came across an opportunity last week to trade my stock 16" rims and tires for a 80 spoke 21/18 setup. The problem is his bike is an 03 heritage, mine is an 06 Electraglide. He has 3//4" bearings and mine are 1". His front wheel will except a dual disc setup. Is it possible to to install the proper bearings in each set instead of swapping the axle shafts? Neither of us like the idea of swapping axles.

I put older 3/4" axle laced wheels on my 07 RK here's what I checked.

Front
1. Measure the width of the rotor mount points from left rotor to right rotor.
2. Measure the width of the assembled hub, outside bearing to outside bearing.
If both of these are equal, I'd buy the new bearings and internal wheel spacer then assemble and install with your old spacers.

Rear
1. I'd measure the width of the rotor mount to the sprocket mount points.
2. Measure the width of the assembled hub, outside bearing to outside bearing.
If both of these are equal, I'd buy the new bearings and internal wheel spacer then assemble and install with your old spacers.

I ran into the same problem, the 1" bearing will fit but the inner 1" ID sleeve will not fit in the 1" clearance hole through the center. The sleeve is 1 1/4" od.
I have a pair of wheels for sale with 1" bearings that I took off my 2004. They are stock and probably the same as what you have based on your picture.

If his wheels are sealed bearing type, not tapered rollers, you can buy a bearing conversion kit, which comes with spacer and shims. They are a stock Harley part and are available in every bearing size (3/4", 1", 25mm) plus front and rear.

I used a 1 5/16" step drill to enlarge the hole thru the center of the hub to accept the larger spacer. The hub was aluminum, so it was easy to run the drill bit thru. I forgot about this step in my earlier post.
