Recently purchased a 2010 SG with 1700 miles. I have noticed that I can hear so much more engine noise on this bike than my previous 2008 Dyna. I'm not sure the noise is any louder or because the pipes are so much quieter allowing me to hear it better. I did just change the oil to Syn3 but I'm wondering if I need to use something a little better. I really dont think anything is wrong with the motor but it sounds like a stinking sewing machine. Any suggestions or words of wisdom to ease my concerns.

 

it bounces off the fairing at you, esp the valve clatter


while you are sitting in the garage at idle, throw a thick blanket over the inner fairing

Valve clatter sounds accurate. I can hear it doing 70 down the highway. I guess I just need louder pipes.

 

tuck knees into gas tanks as well, that'll help with the noise.
