I started out using Mother's products (all I used on my cars and truck). Poor prep lead to swirls one day so I stopped waxing. Couple years later and new paint (Whole other story) and I used only BugSlide. Then a guy at work convinced me to use Turtle Wax Ice. Nice results using the polish then the wax, but the BS was slicker (believe it or not). Now my best friend had me try the TW Ice polish with the nxt wax....FREAKIN AWESOME (for the price). swirls are not as noticeable as they were and nice deep shine.
I've been using Meguiars NXT on both vivid black on mine and my girlfriends bikes. Is Turtle Wax black box worth the change? I'm pretty damn **** about my paint finishes and I don't have a swirl problem on either bike, but I like them to look their best. Whaddya think?
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Wizards Shine Master. Been painting cars and bikes for 25 years and love the stuff. A polymer sealant that is similar to Zaino, but easier to get and cheaper.
The best wax in the world won't do any good. The prep work is the trick, get rid of the swirls first. I like Colinite 845 for the durability.
With dark colors....ESPECIALLY black, you have to get the surface swirl and scratch free. I'd invest in a dual action polisher like a Porter Cable, Flex or Meguire's machine. They are great for fixing minor scratches that you think might be permanent and they can't harm the paint. Hell, I've buffed so many cars and bikes for $$$ that my Porter Cable buffer has paid for itself like 30X over!
