Once upon a time a man owned a sportster that came with a bell. When he purchased the sportster he was told to never take the bell off. He rode for a while and took off the bell and down went the sportster. He put the bell back on and sold it to my friend Chris and told him what happened. Chris always rode the sportster with the bell. Sells me the sportster and says never take the bell off. Chris bought a brand new sportster does a bunch of mods on it rode with no bell and got sideswiped by a car and nearly lost his leg. I don't ride ANYWHERE without that damn bell !!!!!!!! The only time I took it off was when I put it on my new Road King Special !!!!!!

I think the old adage is appropriate, "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."

My 8 yo grandson gave me one for my new to me Ultra on my 60th b'day. In his eyes it works and that's good enough for me.

I never had 1 on any bike I owned until I got my first Harley. My wife gave it to me,so I had to put it on. It has been on the last 3 since then.
