Potential disaster avoided
…while I was installing my new Midland 75-822 CB on my 09 RK the other day, I got to the point where routing the cables involved removing the tank and accessing the wiring harness (wire box thingy) under the tank. Well to my surprise, event though I bought this bike with 7400km and a year old, someone had been in the electrical box already.
Here is where the disaster was avoided. I noticed when I removed the electrical cover, one of the wires for the fuel injector was over the top of the case and pinched under the cover. ALSO, all the wire ties were cut and one of the harnesses had moved and actually had some wires tight like a guitar string. I got pissed just thinking about breaking down 'cause of someones stupidity.

You just never know how or what a previous owner might have done...or is willing to reveal. When buying used, it always pays to remove the seat, remove the side covers, take off the bags if present, look up into the faring area with a flashlight, look at the engine oil and the transmission oil, look underneath for rubs and leaks, plus there are many other checkpoints worth considering.
Glad you discovered and corrected the wire routing issues.
