I haven't been on too much lately, I have accepted a transfer to Germany and I have been very busy. I have a question; I need to get my bikes over to Europe and the shipping will be paid as long as I ship them as household goods instead of as vehicles. So, basically regular old movers will load everything up and dump it all into a shipping container. They will crate them up for me, but I don't really trust them.
the company i work for uses containers to ship overseas all the time. when we need a crate built they have a carpenter build one for them. 3/4 "plywood walls and 2x4's for the frame work. if you know of one try that. one more thing. all the wood must be heat treated to go on a container. they don't want any of our bugs over there.
Thanks for the info, apparently these containers are approved for international shipping. I have checked with some of the local moving and packing companies and they will cost me about the same amount, without some of the features of these.
Yeah, I tried them first and they said no way. Apparently the Moco now uses steal re-useable containers and the dealer has to return every one of them to the factory. Plus the stateside crates aren't rated for international shipping, they have different ones for overseas.
