riding a harley for the first time
Consider this: It is generally cheaper to take things off, then to put things on. If you get the SG, then want to add a TourPak - it's pricy. My last new bike, I got the Ultra and the quick disconnect for the TourPak, Quick Release kit (screws) for the fairing lowers, and a passenger backrest. I can change the look to "Sreet Glide ish" in a few minutes with no tools. When Mama wants to go for a ride to the beach, slap the TourPak stuff back on and off we go!
Just sayin'
Numerous aftermarket designers, suppliers and outlets help to keep prices low ( er) than many other brands ( try owning a BMW- sheesh).
Service/ Parts anywhere, easy.
Harleys are pretty much delivered "vanilla" and the Rider personalizes, depending on taste ( or lack of) and budget ( or lack of).
Enjoy those test rides, If you get a chance, check out the Harley demo fleet ( website for schedule) which can allow you to ride multiple models back to back.
IF you are unaware, all the touring series models of the same year are essentially the same but for the amount of fiberglass hanging off them.
A couple of the "custom" models have rear shocks 1" lower ( and less shock travel resulting) The FLHX streetglide is one of them.
So a full on Electra Glide Ultra Classic and a Road King are the same drivetrain, frame, forks, brakes geometry etc. The diff is in the fairing, bags, radio and badges
For a 900 pound bike, you should get ABS- lets the bike do the stopping and traction control while you pick a clear spot to ride through
this is an 09 ElectraGlide Classic ( lacking the cb radio and rear speakers of the Ultra)- detached tourpak, seat swap, lower FLHX shocks, added lower fairings.

when touring the stock shocks, tour pak and big seat go back on
