seems like a good deal but remember... you get what you pay for.
Thanks for the reply thats why I'm posting a thread. I've done a lot of searching and not finding a whole lot of info. Is it to new to the market and there isn't awhole lot of them out there? If anybody has one of these please post what you think of it. Thanks!
I just bought one from Ebay, the "scratch and dent" sale.... Paid about $250 with shipping, comes with what looks like everything. It's going to be my winter project.
First Impressions.... (Scratch and Dent sale remember)
It looks like the mold that they are doing the fiberglass in is either less than perfect, of the layup job was... It's quite wavy and the thickness at the edges is not consistant.... In all fairness, the add did say "a body mans dream". The fairing is VERY light, but sturdy.
The brackets that come with it: the slots are slightly smaller in width than my Road King quick detach windshield brackets are. I'm going to modify the brackets and make it detachable as well... You have to drill your own holes in the inner fairing, for mounting the fairing to the brackets. This is not an "out of the box" solution by far.
Again, it was the scratch and dent sale.... I'd like to see one that is out of the box.
I don't mind taking on a project, and I'm actually thinking of having the outer covered in leather. With the lowers (with 6" alpine speakers) I just added, and now this batwing with 4 - 5 1/4 inch speakers and a radio slot, its just starting to make my leather "classic" bags look out of place. I know a few leather guys from another board, and I think I can get that "basket weave" pattern from my bags and seat onto the outer fairing in some way/shape/form and it will look good.
I just bought one off Ebay and am very pleased, especially for the price. I paid about $250 to my door. The gelcoat is very smooth and can be ran as is if you want black semi gloss or easily painted with very little prep work. I did custom paint for 15 years and have dealt with a lot of crappy fiberglass, this is not one of them. I am questioning the mounting brackets a little but I haven't completely mocked it up yet. They look like they just slip into place but don't have any type of cam lock or safety clip. I'm looking into modifying the stock brackets. My fairing did have all the holes drilled though.
