I velcro my MP3 player to one of my windshield pouches. I plug the headphone jack of the MP3 player to the aux input on the stereo with a 1/8" to 1/8" audio cable. It works well, and is cheap.
I do that same as stevefd. Works great for me as well. I found a short cord that has 90deg angles on both ends. It came with our treadmill and we found it to be too short for us on it but works great on the bike.
I velcro my ipod to my ipod to my windshield bag. Go to walmart and buy a retractable chord, it is like $6 and two 90* connections at radio shack about $3/each, the 90* connections will take the pressure off the connection to your radio and mp3 player. The retractable chord is nice because the chord stays tight and you don't have to worry about extra chord hanging around. When I use my phone for tunes I just put it in the windshield bag using the same setup as above.
I tried plugging the mp3 into the aux jack on my 06EG. Volume was low and the mp3 player needs to be accessible for the controls-unhandy for me.
As an alternative, I created a data cd with mp3 files on it copied from my mp3 player. A cd with the mp3 data files will hold about 200 songs and the HK factory cd player will play the mp3 files just like an audio cd.
