Default 1997 Road King question

I'm looking at a 1997 FLHRI, fuel injected Road King with 96,000 miles on it priced at $8,500. What do you guys think? Is that to many miles on this particular engine? How many more miles do you think it can get? Is it priced to high for that many miles? The top end was rebuilt at 68k and still runs good and looks good.It has Super Trapp pipes, a 4 in 1 50's boys gauge on the handlebars, bigger injectors and an SE-3 cam. Anyone got any advise on this?

I sold a 1995 Roadking2 years ago for 9,000 with 80,000 on it. The EVO engine is bullet proof and if it has a new top, it should be good for a lot of miles. Offer 8,000 and seel what happens.

Regards,

Bill

You can do better. The Evo prices have been coming down. It's not just the engine with a lot of miles, the drive train has been taking a beating too. It depends on how the first owner treated it. The HD Remanufacture Program is a great option. I had a '96 Road King and did a lot of mods on the motor. 92 HP on the ole80 Cubic Inch and eventually the heads warped. I had the local dealer put in the Reman motor. It worked out great. I had a fresh motor in it. The drive train took a beating though (from me of course)I traded it in last Jan with 67K miles on it for a '06 Road Glide.
RoadKing is a great bike though. HD's will handle a lot of miles, just depends on how the owner took care of it.

Bullet Proof?[sm=huh.gif] The EVO was good,(I had 2), but NO Harley motor has ever been known to be "bullet proof". Top end havin been done is nice, but if the cases have never been split on that bike you better budget for it cause those miles are about max on a stock lower end. And what about swingarm bearings, neck bearings, fork springs,etc.etc...at about 100,000 everything on that bike is suspect...I would definately look for a much lower mileage bike for maybe another grand, say in the 20-30K mile range, there's tons out there....Joe Mac

I think you can find something better also, that's a lot of miles.
